EVgo's fast charging stations across America each have unique personal names instead of complex serial codes, making them more memorable and user-friendly for customers. This naming tradition began in December 2017 to simplify customer support interactions and enhance the overall charging experience.

With over 800 charging stations and 1,400+ fast chargers nationwide, you'll find named chargers like 'Demarcus' in Richmond (VA), 'Hector' in Schaumburg (IL), and 'Sophia' in San Diego (CA). These chargers are strategically located near grocery stores, restaurants, and other convenient locations where people frequently visit.

The names often carry personal significance. For example, 'Orly' in Oakland is named after an EVgo executive's daughter who questioned the necessity of gas stations, demonstrating the forward-thinking perspective that drives EVgo's mission.

EVgo involves its community in the naming process through social media contests. Recently, customers voted between naming a charger after naturalists Lucille Clifton and Langston Hughes, with Clifton emerging as the winner.

The network plans to triple its number of public fast chargers in the coming years, continuing its tradition of personalizing each station. Customers are encouraged to share photos when they find their namesake chargers and submit naming suggestions for future installations.

This naming initiative reflects EVgo's commitment to creating a more personal, accessible charging experience while contributing to cleaner air and reduced emissions through sustainable transportation solutions.
