Brazilian racing talent Gabriel Bortoleto joins an elite group of drivers who achieved Formula 3/GP3 and Formula 2 championships consecutively as rookies, following the path of Charles Leclerc, George Russell, and Oscar Piastri. Set to drive for Stake Sauber in 2025, Bortoleto becomes Brazil's first permanent F1 driver since 2017.

The 20-year-old driver, already secured by Audi for their 2026 entry, draws inspiration from his predecessors' success in Formula 1. "They are all F1 race winners, so for me it's a privilege to be around these names," says Bortoleto, who aims to emulate their achievements of winning races and competing for championships.
Representing Brazil holds special significance for Bortoleto, who acknowledges the challenges faced by Brazilian drivers in reaching Formula 1. "Nothing is easy for us. We come from a long way from here, we go through a lot of things to achieve success — especially in this sport," he explains, highlighting the financial barriers Brazilian drivers must overcome.
His arrival marks a significant moment for Brazilian motorsport fans, who will once again have a countryman to support during race weekends. Bortoleto expresses pride in giving his nation "a little bit of happiness" as they watch him compete across global circuits, from Abu Dhabi to Qatar and throughout Europe.
