Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton, and Pierre Gasly face potential disqualification from the Chinese Grand Prix following post-race scrutineering issues.

Leclerc's Ferrari, which finished fifth despite first-lap front wing damage, was found underweight at 799.0kg after fuel drainage - 1.0kg below the minimum requirement. The car was weighed both with the damaged wing and a spare front wing assembly, failing to meet regulations in both instances.

Hamilton's Mercedes met weight requirements but failed skid thickness checks, with measurements of 8.5-8.6mm falling short of the 9mm minimum requirement. This mirrors his 2023 US Grand Prix disqualification for similar technical breaches.

Gasly's Alpine also registered at 799.0kg post-fuel drainage, matching Leclerc's underweight violation. Both completed extended final stints, with Gasly running 46 laps and Leclerc 41 laps on hard tires.

If disqualified, several drivers stand to gain points positions:

  • Lance Stroll (currently 12th)
  • Carlos Sainz (13th)
  • Esteban Ocon
  • Kimi Antonelli
  • Alex Albon
  • Oliver Bearman

This situation recalls George Russell's disqualification from his 2024 Belgian Grand Prix victory, where excessive tire wear was suggested as a potential factor in the weight violation.
