Ford drivers accumulated £6.5 million in parking fines during 2024, leading the list of manufacturers with the highest number of Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) in the UK.

Key findings from National Scrap Car's research:

• Total PCNs issued in 2024: 2,616,236
• Top manufacturers by number of fines:
  1. Ford: 319,887 fines (£6,453,280 outstanding)
  2. Volkswagen: 234,811 fines
  3. BMW: 204,971 fines

Manchester recorded the highest number of PCNs among these manufacturers, with 464,880 tickets issued. However, London boroughs showed the highest amounts of unpaid fines:

• Waltham Forest: Highest unpaid fines for Ford (80,666)
• Barking and Dagenham: Most outstanding fines for Volkswagen (53,930) and BMW (53,875)

The high number of Ford violations correlates with the brand's popularity - the Ford Puma was the UK's bestselling car in 2024.

To avoid parking fines:

• Always check for parking restriction signs
• Park within marked bays
• Pay attention to time limits
• Ensure parking permits are clearly displayed

The combined unpaid fines for the top three manufacturers totaled £15,077,680 in 2024.
