Penske Entertainment and Indy NXT Director Buck Part Ways Before Season Opener
Penske Entertainment has parted ways with Indy NXT director Richard Buck just days before the 2025 season opener in St. Petersburg. The former NASCAR executive, who was appointed on December 10, was released following reported disconnects with NXT team owners.

Buck had replaced Levi Jones, who previously led the series' revitalization through 2024. Despite Buck's extensive motorsport experience, his brief tenure ended due to growing concerns from team ownership.
During the transition, IndyCar Series president Doug Boles and Indianapolis Motor Speedway VP Jason Penix will temporarily oversee series operations at St. Petersburg. Penix brings valuable experience from his previous leadership role in Indy Lights, NXT's predecessor.
Penske Entertainment conducted an extensive search during the offseason to find Jones' replacement and will now revisit their candidate pool to select the next Indy NXT director. The remainder of the series' operations team remains unchanged.
The timing of this change allows Penske Entertainment to begin their search for a new director before the racing season gains momentum, while also providing Buck the opportunity to pursue new opportunities early in the year.
