Aston Martin Formula 1 has appointed Andy Cowell as their new team principal, replacing Mike Krack in a significant organizational restructure. This change comes as part of the team's efforts to establish clearer leadership and implement a flatter management structure.

Key Changes:

  • Andy Cowell, previously group CEO, becomes team principal
  • Mike Krack transitions to chief trackside officer
  • Enrico Cardile joins as chief technical officer
  • Tom McCullough moves to oversee expansion into other racing categories

The restructuring divides the team's operations into two main areas:

  • Trackside operations (led by Krack)
  • Factory-based teams (overseen by Cardile)

Both divisions will report directly to Cowell, who brings valuable experience from his previous role as managing director of Mercedes' High Performance Powertrains.

This reorganization precedes Aston Martin's 2026 transition to a full works team, partnering with Honda and Aramco. It also follows the team's challenging 2024 season, where they scored 94 points compared to 280 in 2023, finishing fifth in the constructors' championship.

The changes also anticipate Adrian Newey's upcoming arrival as managing technical partner, marking another strategic move in Aston Martin's pursuit of championship success.

Cowell expressed confidence in the team's future, citing the completion of the AMR Technology Campus and upcoming partnerships as key elements in their journey toward becoming a championship-winning team.
