General Motors plans to significantly expand America's electric vehicle charging infrastructure by installing 2,700 new fast-charging stations across the United States by 2025, partnering with EVgo to accelerate EV adoption.

The initiative aims to make charging more accessible, particularly in urban areas and suburbs where apartment residents lack home charging options. Each station will support simultaneous charging for up to four vehicles with speeds of 100-350 kilowatts.

GM's investment, while the amount remains undisclosed, represents a strategic move to address "range anxiety" - a major concern preventing wider EV adoption. The new stations will be powered by 100% renewable energy, supporting GM's commitment to environmental sustainability.

The expansion will focus on high-traffic areas like grocery stores, retail locations, and entertainment centers, making charging convenient for everyday drivers. This development marks a significant step in GM's broader $27 billion investment in electric and autonomous vehicles through 2025.

EVgo, currently operating over 800 fast-charging locations across 34 states, will maintain and operate these new stations, ensuring reliable access to fast charging for current and future EV owners.
