Harrison Burton departs Wood Brothers Racing with mixed emotions after securing their historic 100th victory but falling short of broader expectations.

A dramatic last-lap pass at Daytona International Speedway marked Burton's first Cup Series win and the team's centennial victory, propelling them into the postseason. However, this highlight was one of only two top-10 finishes in 2023, with Burton finishing 16th in championship standings.

"I really think if I run the way I did the last half of this season earlier, I keep my job," Burton reflected. "That's part of racing. It's performing when it matters and performing before silly season starts."

During his three-season tenure (2022-2024), Burton accumulated six top-10 finishes. Despite the challenges, he maintains pride in the relationships built with his crew, particularly during difficult times. The team announced Josh Berry would take over the No. 21 car for 2025.

Burton now returns to the Xfinity Series with AM Racing, supported by a Haas Factory Team technical alliance. At 24, he remains confident about his future Cup Series prospects.

"I'm super confident in myself and what I can do. I know that in the right circumstance, I can be a Cup level driver," Burton stated. "I've got to go prove it, got to go earn it. We're going to have to go take it."
