Penske Corporation president Bud Denker confirmed positive preliminary discussions, while Thermal GM Nicholas Rhoades revealed plans for potential track modifications to enhance the racing experience.

The current 3.067-mile, 17-turn layout hosted 5,000 spectators for the track's first professional motor race. Future events could utilize an expanded 4.2-mile configuration, incorporating faster turns and additional spectator areas.

Key proposed changes include:

  • Removing less engaging sections from the first half of the lap
  • Adding more grandstand space
  • Introducing higher-speed sections reaching up to 180mph
  • Incorporating areas near new housing developments

The track's expansion would not only accommodate larger crowds but also create more dynamic racing opportunities for competitors. Both organizations will reassess after Sunday's 65-lap The Thermal Club IndyCar Grand Prix to determine the next steps for their partnership.
