Ashley Newgarden, wife of IndyCar champion Josef Newgarden, has authored her first children's book "Goodnight Racetrack," collaborating with Red Racer Books founder Andy Amendola and illustrator Riley Girmann.

The bedtime story, inspired by the classic "Goodnight Moon" and Newgarden's experience reading to her son Kota, takes young readers on a journey around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This release makes the Newgardens a two-author family, following Josef's previous book "Josef's BIG Dream: An Indy 500 Story."

Book: Goodnight Racetrack
"We started talking about the missed opportunities in racing books for children," Ashley explained to RACER. While Josef's book targets 5-7 year olds, "Goodnight Racetrack" aims at a younger audience, filling a gap in motorsport-themed bedtime stories. The project has allowed Ashley to explore her creative side while sharing her family's passion for racing with young readers.
The book's creation was particularly meaningful for Ashley, who found the writing process therapeutic and appreciated the opportunity to step out from "the back seat" of her husband's racing career. Josef, a two-time IndyCar Series champion and Indianapolis 500 winner, actively encouraged her to pursue this creative endeavor.
