Le Mans 24H Introduces New Two-Part Hyperpole Qualifying Format
The ACO has revealed significant changes to the Le Mans 24 Hours qualifying format for 2025, introducing a more complex and inclusive Hyperpole shootout system.

The new format will unfold across two days:
Wednesday, June 11:
- LMP2 and LMGT3: 30-minute qualifying session (top 12 advance)
- Hypercar: Initial session (top 15 advance)
Thursday, June 12:
- LMP2 and LMGT3:
- 20-minute session for qualified 24 cars (top 8 advance)
- 15-minute final shootout for pole position
- Hypercar:
- Session for top 15 cars
- 15-minute top-10 shootout for overall pole
This revised format expands from the previous system, which limited Hyperpole participation to only eight cars per class. The 2025 event will also feature support races including Ford's Mustang Challenge, Ligier European Series, Le Mans Cup, and Porsche Sprint Challenge.
