The new agreement includes four races over six years, with no events scheduled for 2028 and 2030. These gaps will allow other European venues to join the F1 calendar, addressing the increasing demand from potential host locations.
Key points of the extension:
- Contract runs until 2031
- Spa will host races in 2026, 2027, 2029, and 2031
- Rotation slots in 2028 and 2030 remain unconfirmed
- Allows Spa to plan long-term facility investments
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali emphasized the historical significance of Spa-Francorchamps, noting its presence since F1's inaugural 1950 championship. He highlighted recent facility improvements and praised the Government of Wallonia's support.
Pierre-Yves Jeholet, Walloon Government vice president, confirmed the event's importance for the region, citing significant economic benefits and international exposure for both Wallonia and Belgium.
While Zandvoort was considered as a potential rotation partner, they have announced their withdrawal from F1 after the 2026 season. F1 has yet to announce which venues will fill the rotation slots in 2028 and 2030.
