Both Lola Yamaha Abt Formula E entries face 20-place grid penalties for the Jeddah E-Prix opener after breaking MGU seals on their vehicles.

The team broke seals on the E-Motors (MGU) of both Lucas di Grassi's No. 11 car and Zane Maloney's No. 22 car, which regulations consider equivalent to "changing a part." The team had requested permission to break the seals to perform safety checks following technical issues in previous events.

Given the 22-car grid format, the full penalty application is impossible. Therefore, additional penalties will be applied:

  • Drive-through penalty for positions 1-10 that cannot be served via grid demotion
  • Stop-and-go penalty for 11 or more unserveable grid positions

The team's season performance has been challenging:

  • Maloney: 12th in São Paulo, 15th in Mexico City
  • Di Grassi: DNF in São Paulo, 20th in Mexico City

In Jeddah's first practice, both drivers struggled with setup issues, with Maloney finishing 20th and di Grassi 21st. Earlier, Tatiana Calderon placed 10th out of 11 drivers in the Rookie Free Practice Session.
