The sequence began when Louis Deletraz lost control of the No. 40 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R exiting Turn 2, spinning into the barrier before ricocheting back onto the track. This triggered a chain reaction involving multiple vehicles:
- Nick Boulle's No. 2 United Autosports ORECA collided with Deletraz
- Chris Cumming impacted both the No. 40 and Boulle's car
- Jordan Pepper's No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Lamborghini hit Max Hesse's No. 48 Paul Miller Racing BMW
- The No. 8 Tower Motorsports ORECA sustained minor damage
- The No. 77 AO Racing Porsche managed to avoid significant contact
