McLaren CEO Brown: It's Arrogant to Consider Us 2025 F1 Title Favorites
McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown dismisses the notion of his team being favorites for the 2025 Formula 1 championships, despite their recent constructors' title victory over Ferrari.
While McLaren secured the constructors' championship by a 14-point margin ahead of Ferrari, with Red Bull and Mercedes following in third and fourth respectively, Brown maintains a humble perspective on their position for 2025.
"I think favorites would be arrogant," Brown stated. "I see no reason why we can't be one of the favorites. You've got four teams that are winning races on a regular basis, so I don't see how you can put anybody as a favorite going into next year."

The team's impressive 2024 season included:
- 6 grand prix victories
- 21 podium finishes
- 8 pole positions
- 14 consecutive podiums (second-longest streak in McLaren history)
Both McLaren drivers achieved significant milestones in 2024:
- Lando Norris: Won four races and finished second in the drivers' championship
- Oscar Piastri: Secured two wins and finished fourth overall in just his second F1 season
Brown expressed confidence in his driver lineup, noting their potential to challenge for the 2025 championship. The team's technical director of aerodynamics, Pete Prodromou, shares this optimism, with the entire team focused on competing for both the constructors' and drivers' world championships in the upcoming season.
