Formula 1 is experiencing an unprecedented season with four teams capable of dominating races, creating both opportunities and challenges for McLaren's constructors' championship pursuit.

Mercedes secured a one-two finish at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, with George Russell winning from pole and Lewis Hamilton finishing second from tenth. This marks the first time in F1 history that four different constructors have achieved one-two finishes in a single season.

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella acknowledges the mixed impact of this competitive landscape. While Mercedes' strong performance helped limit Ferrari's points gain, the unprecedented level of competition among top teams makes upcoming races unpredictable.

"The level of the top teams in Formula 1 in 2024 is unprecedented," Stella notes. "Four teams are not only capable of winning but dominating with faultless weekends."

Despite Qatar's track layout potentially favoring McLaren's car design, Stella remains cautious, emphasizing that Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes all have the potential to win there.

McLaren maintains an optimistic outlook, particularly proud that Lando Norris emerged as Max Verstappen's primary challenger once the team provided competitive machinery. The team can secure the constructors' championship in Qatar by outscoring Ferrari by 21 points while not losing more than 14 points to Red Bull.
