Clay Millican and Rick Ware Racing (RWR) have established themselves as serious contenders in NHRA Top Fuel racing, building on their recent success and aiming for championship glory.

The partnership began in September 2022 when Ware announced his Top Fuel team with Millican. Their impact was immediately felt when they eliminated championship contender Justin Ashley in Las Vegas, significantly affecting the title chase.

2023 marked a breakthrough year with three victories at Chicago, Bandimere, and St. Louis—the most wins Millican had achieved in a single season and RWR's first victories as team owners.

The team continued their success in 2024, winning the prestigious U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis and finishing sixth in the championship standings. While they secured fewer race wins than in 2023, their consistency improved significantly, positioning them as legitimate championship contenders.

"We've earned respect in the sport," says Millican. "Our consistency continues to grow as we enter our third year with Rick Ware Racing."

Operating from Mooresville, N.C., rather than the traditional Indianapolis hub, RWR has brought enhanced resources and infrastructure to the former Doug Stringer organization. The team now benefits from increased inventory and parts availability, giving them more strategic flexibility during races.

Millican emphasizes that success comes down to people. "When you get good people, you get good results," he explains. The team's no-blame culture and accountability have created a strong foundation for success, with Rick Ware's hands-on yet trusting leadership style allowing team members to excel in their roles.

With improved resources, consistent performance, and a strong team culture, Millican and RWR are positioned to challenge for the Top Fuel championship in the upcoming season.
