Norris Takes Full Responsibility for Qatar GP Yellow Flag Penalty
Lando Norris has taken full responsibility for his penalty during the Qatar Grand Prix, acknowledging that he let his McLaren team down by failing to slow for yellow flags on the pit straight.
The British driver received a 10-second stop-and-go penalty after gaining over half a second in the first sector while yellow flags were displayed for a wing mirror on track. Despite having the fastest car of his career, the penalty significantly impacted his race results.
"Disappointed, of course. I let the team down," Norris admitted. "The team gave me a great car today. Easily the quickest out there and I messed it up."

When questioned about the severity of the penalty, Norris defended the stewards' decision: "If I did what they said I did wrong, then good on them for giving me the quick penalty."
Looking ahead to Abu Dhabi next weekend, Norris emphasized his commitment to avoiding similar mistakes to help secure the constructors' championship. "We go in the same as every weekend, wanting to win, wanting to be the best, wanting to be the fastest. I just need to not be an idiot and do what I did."
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to safety protocols in Formula 1, even for experienced drivers. Despite the setback, Norris remained grateful for McLaren's efforts in providing him with what he described as "the best car out there today."
