Record Mazda Miata Field Delivers Thrilling Action at Apex Race 2

The second race of the Scottsdale Ferrari Apex Challenge series featured the largest-ever field of Mazda MX5 Cup cars, delivering intense wheel-to-wheel racing action. A four-car battle pack dominated the front of the field, trading positions throughout the 30-minute race.

Tom Tait claimed victory in his MX5 Cup debut, recovering from fourth position after starting from pole. Lucas Barnett secured second place with a decisive Turn 7 pass on Joey Rainey during the penultimate lap. The championship remains tight with just 13 points separating the top five drivers.

The weekend marked a significant milestone for Apex Motor Club, as they completed the final section of new tarmac, making it Arizona's longest circuit at 4.76 miles. The surface, laid by the same crew that paved the Miami GP circuit, promises exceptional racing conditions for the 2025 season.

  • Radical Gold: Chris McMurry won from pole position, followed by Andy Voelkel and Ralph Gilles
  • Radical Silver: Ryan Fisher secured his second consecutive victory
