Arvid Lindblad could become Red Bull and RB's new reserve driver after securing his FIA Super License by winning the Formula Regional Oceania Championship ahead of schedule.

The 17-year-old British-Swedish talent has shown impressive progress, securing four victories in his rookie Formula 3 season and finishing fourth in the championship. His achievements also include third place in the 2023 Italian Formula 4 championship, with the recent FR Oceania title providing the final points needed for his Super License.

"What an incredible ride," Lindblad celebrated after claiming his first single-seater championship. "Proud to be crowned FR Oceania Champion. A huge shout-out to my team and everyone who's been part of this journey. What an amazing few weeks in New Zealand – such a stunning place."

Having caught the attention of Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, Lindblad is set to compete in Formula 2 with Campos Racing in 2025, following in the footsteps of RB rookie Isack Hadjar. Despite being under 18 until August, recent FIA rule changes allow for Super License grants to 17-year-olds "in exceptional circumstances."

Red Bull's reserve driver position opened up after Liam Lawson's promotion to replace Sergio Perez, with Hadjar joining Yuki Tsunoda at RB. Both Lawson and Hadjar previously served as reserve drivers.

In the FR Oceania championship, American driver Nikita Johnson secured third place overall with one win and five podiums from 15 races. Johnson will compete in the GB3 Championship while also participating in four Indy NXT races with HMD Motorsports.
