Red Bull is allowing Sergio Perez to evaluate his own future with the team following a challenging 2024 season, where he scored only four podiums in the first five rounds and currently sits eighth in the drivers' championship. The significant 277-point gap to teammate Max Verstappen has raised questions about his position within the team.

Team principal Christian Horner acknowledges Perez's difficult year and emphasizes their focus on supporting him through the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix finale. While Perez has two years remaining on his contract, Red Bull plans to hold a shareholder meeting after the season to discuss his future.

"Checo has had a very tough year," Horner stated. "He's old enough and wise enough to know what the situation is, and let's see where we are after Abu Dhabi."

The team maintains that any decisions regarding drivers will be handled privately. However, if changes occur, Red Bull is considering promoting either Liam Lawson or Yuki Tsunoda, with F2 title contender Isack Hadjar as a potential candidate for an RB seat.

Horner highlighted the strength of Red Bull's junior program, noting the close performance between Lawson and Tsunoda, as well as Hadjar's impressive Formula 2 results. The team's decision will likely be influenced by both current performance and future potential within their driver development pipeline.

The final race in Abu Dhabi could prove crucial for Perez's future, as Red Bull aims to end the season on a positive note despite no longer being able to defend their constructors' championship title.
