The RB21 represents an evolution of Red Bull's dominant recent designs, following Verstappen's successful run of championships since 2021, including all three titles in the ground effect era starting from 2022.

Despite a challenging latter half of 2024, where Verstappen faced a ten-race winless streak, the team showed promising recovery with two victories in the final four races. The new car aims to address the balance issues that affected their performance last season.

Verstappen expressed cautious optimism about the RB21, stating, "I think we understand where the issues were coming from, but now it's about trying to add a better balance to the car." He also welcomed the prospect of closer competition, noting it would be "great for the sport" to see multiple winners and teams competing at the front.

The RB21 marks a significant transition as it's the first car developed without substantial input from Adrian Newey, who departed after nearly 20 years with the team. Technical Director Pierre Wache continues to lead the technical team's efforts.

Both Verstappen and new teammate Liam Lawson will test the RB21 during the initial shakedown in Bahrain, sharing the track with Mercedes and Williams before pre-season testing begins.
