Despite securing a two-year contract extension in June, Perez's performance significantly declined after a strong start to the season. While he achieved four podiums in the first five rounds, including three second-place finishes, his form deteriorated dramatically after the Miami Grand Prix, scoring only 49 points in the final 18 races.

The performance gap between Perez and teammate Max Verstappen became increasingly evident, with Verstappen accumulating 301 points and five wins during the same period. This disparity contributed to Red Bull's third-place finish in the constructors' championship, behind McLaren and Ferrari.

Liam Lawson is expected to replace Perez for the 2025 season, while Red Bull junior Isack Hadjar, who finished second in the Formula 2 championship, is likely to be promoted to RB.

"I'm incredibly grateful for the past four years with Oracle Red Bull Racing," Perez stated. "Driving for Red Bull has been an unforgettable experience, and I'll always cherish the successes we achieved together. It has been an honor to race alongside Max as a teammate all these years."

While Perez currently has no confirmed seat for 2025, he joins other experienced drivers like Valtteri Bottas, Kevin Magnussen, and Zhou Guanyu as potential candidates for Cadillac's planned F1 entry in 2026.
