Stone Family Takes on UMP Mods Before Super DIRTcar Series at Volusia
The Stone family is set to take on a new racing challenge at the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park from January 30 to February 8. Justin Stone and his father Todd will alternate driving duties in a DIRTcar UMP Modified.

During their test run at Golden Isles Speedway, the Middlebury, VT natives discovered significant differences between UMP Modifieds and their usual Big Block racers. Todd noted that while Big Blocks require careful throttle control in corners to avoid spinning, UMP Modifieds demand consistent momentum and a completely different driving approach.
The Florida racing experience isn't new to Todd Stone, who has claimed two victories at New Smyrna Speedway's World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing in various racing classes. For the Stone family, February racing in Florida has become a cherished tradition combining competition and leisure.
This early-season UMP Modified racing will serve as valuable practice for Justin, who will return to Volusia Speedway Park with the Super DIRTcar Series from February 12-15. Despite having only six Feature races at the track, Justin remains optimistic about the learning opportunity.
Todd Stone, serving as both critic and supporter, expressed enthusiasm about watching his son's racing development. "I love watching him progress. I'm his biggest critic, but I'm his biggest fan, too," he remarked.
The father-son team will begin their 2025 racing season earlier than planned, showcasing their adaptability and commitment to the sport while gaining valuable track experience for the upcoming Super DIRTcar Series events.
