Team Penske's Daytona 500 Dominance Crumbles in Final Laps
Team Penske showcased impressive dominance at the Daytona 500, leading a combined 125 laps, but ultimately fell short of victory in a dramatic finish.

Austin Cindric, who led a race-high 59 laps, was in control at the white flag but lost the lead on the backstretch when Denny Hamlin made an outside move. Contact at the front of the field collected both drivers, clearing the way for William Byron's victory. Despite the disappointment, Cindric managed to finish eighth.
Joey Logano's promising run ended with 15 laps remaining after contact with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. While attempting to move to the second position, Logano tried to slip underneath Stenhouse but made contact, triggering a multi-car accident. He finished 35th after leading 43 laps.
Ryan Blaney emerged as Team Penske's highest finisher in seventh place. Despite suffering damage in the Logano-Stenhouse incident and hitting the outside wall, his team made sufficient repairs to keep him competitive. Blaney, who led 23 laps, made a strategic move to the bottom on the final lap, avoiding the backstretch chaos to secure his top-10 finish.
The race exemplified the unpredictable nature of superspeedway racing, where dominant performance doesn't always translate to victory. Team Penske's strong showing throughout Speedweeks ended with a mix of frustration and resilience, as all three drivers demonstrated race-winning potential before various incidents altered their outcomes.
