Thorson Takes Thrilling Hasty Bake Qualifier Win at Chili Bowl
In a thrilling finish at the 39th annual Chili Bowl Nationals powered by NOS Energy Drink, Tanner Thorson secured victory during Thursday's Hasty Bake Qualifying Night A-Feature, holding off Ryan Bernal and Christopher Bell.

The race featured multiple lead changes, with Karter Sarff briefly leading laps 3-4 before Thorson regained control. Christopher Bell took command on lap 10, but Thorson fought back to reclaim the lead on lap 25. A dramatic green-white-checkered finish saw Thorson defend against both Bernal and Bell, with Bernal securing the second transfer spot to Saturday's A-Feature by just 0.068 seconds.
Matt Westfall finished fourth after starting eighth, while Jacob Denney advanced from eleventh to fifth. The event drew 79 drivers, bringing the total competing entries to 292.
The evening saw 39 flips with all drivers emerging unharmed. Racing continues Friday, January 17, 2025, with the Hard Rock Hotel Casino of Tulsa Qualifying Night starting at 4:00 P.M. for Hot Laps, followed by racing at 5:00 P.M. (CT).
General Admission tickets are available at the event for $60 per weekday and $75 on Saturday, including pit access. The 39th annual Chili Bowl Nationals runs January 13-18, 2025, at the SageNet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
