Small, who previously worked with Martin Truex Jr., appreciates Briscoe's commitment to being physically present at the shop – a significant change from his previous driver. This local presence will allow for more hands-on involvement in setup development and team building.
Briscoe plans to maintain his habit of visiting the shop weekly, continuing his approach from his Stewart-Haas Racing days. The team will also resume simulator work, which hadn't been utilized in three years due to Truex's remote location.
While navigating the new environment at Joe Gibbs Racing has been challenging for Briscoe, he's dedicated to building strong relationships with team members. He plans intensive shop time in December and January, including four consecutive days of simulator work.
The duo has already begun regular communication, with Small making efforts to understand Briscoe's racing experience and challenges. Despite some communication challenges due to Small's accent, their relationship is developing positively as they prepare for their first season together.
This partnership represents a fresh start for both the crew chief and driver, with their shared commitment to hands-on collaboration suggesting promising potential for the No. 19 team's future performance.
