Tsunoda Almost Denied Entry to US for Las Vegas Grand Prix
Formula 1 driver Yuki Tsunoda faced an unexpected challenge at U.S. customs while entering for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, nearly resulting in his denial of entry despite having proper documentation.

The RB driver, who had previously entered the U.S. without issues for races in Miami and Austin, was detained and questioned for several hours by border control officials. Despite having the same visas and documentation used for previous U.S. races, Tsunoda faced intense scrutiny.
The situation was particularly challenging due to language barriers, as Tsunoda wasn't allowed to have his trainer present during questioning or contact his team for assistance. "I wanted to call the team as well or Formula 1, maybe a person that can help me, but in that room you can't do anything," Tsunoda explained.
"Luckily they let me in after a lot of discussions," he added, expressing hope that this experience would prevent similar issues in future U.S. entries. The incident occurred despite this being F1's third U.S. race of the season, following earlier events in Miami and Austin.
This unexpected customs delay highlights the complexities international athletes sometimes face while traveling for competitions, even with proper documentation and previous successful entries into the country.
