Aston Martin's Newey to Impact Both 2025 and 2026 F1 Car Development
Adrian Newey will contribute to both Aston Martin's 2025 and 2026 car development programs as he begins his role as managing technical partner, according to team principal Andy Cowell.
The renowned designer's arrival in March marks a significant milestone for Aston Martin following his departure from Red Bull. His immediate involvement will span current and future car designs.
"Everybody's super excited to work with Adrian," says Cowell. "His record speaks for itself. We're looking forward to welcoming him on-site and getting stuck into creating a 2026 car while helping improve the 2025 model."

The team has implemented organizational changes to improve efficiency, splitting focus between trackside operations and factory development. This structure is particularly important as F1 transitions to new regulations in 2026.
Cowell explains their approach: "We're putting a good emphasis into what's everybody's responsibility. We're striving to ensure every department performs at its best, constantly reflecting and improving to increase our development rate."
Newey himself maintains a humble outlook on his new role: "I'm just looking forward to it and what will be, will be. The first target is to get to know everybody here, understand how everybody works, and try to integrate myself with everybody. It's about getting that creative flow going."
The technical restructuring aims to optimize both immediate performance gains and long-term development, with Newey's expertise expected to accelerate Aston Martin's progress in Formula 1's competitive landscape.
