Cadillac F1 Finally Breaks Silence After Grid Confirmation
Cadillac has officially secured its entry into Formula 1 for 2026, marking the first new team addition in a decade. Graeme Lowdon, appointed as team principal late last year, can now openly discuss the project following formal approval from both F1 and the FIA.

Despite the late confirmation, development has been progressing steadily. The team's first chassis is expected within two weeks, with crash testing already underway. Unlike previous new entrants, Cadillac must comply with both 2026 regulations and certain current-year requirements.
The team faces unique challenges in driver selection, having missed recent market movements. Lowdon confirms they're considering at least six potential candidates, seeking a balance of experience and future potential. Notable names in consideration include Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas, and Colton Herta.
While acknowledging the tight timeline to 2026, Lowdon remains confident in the team's preparation: "Would we have preferred confirmation earlier? Yes. But we've respected the process, and now we must move ahead and do the best job possible."
The team's entry underwent unprecedented scrutiny during the approval process, which delayed public communications but validated Cadillac's commitment to Formula 1. With official confirmation secured, Cadillac can now fully engage in driver negotiations and continue their technical development for their 2026 debut.
