Darren Smith seeks redemption at New Egypt Speedway after leading 40 laps and finishing second in last year's Super DIRTcar Series event. The Binghamton, NY driver is the only competitor with consecutive top-five finishes in New Jersey over the past two seasons.

"I can't tell you how many times I've went back and watched that race," Smith reflected on his near-victory. "Being your best finish on the Series, you can't be upset with it, but when you lead up until the last lap, that kind of sucks."

Smith enters the 2025 championship season opener at New Egypt on March 29 with growing confidence. His recent performance at the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals showed promise, securing three consecutive top-10 finishes after a difficult start.

The unique 7/16-mile dirt track presents a level playing field, as many Series regulars have limited experience there. Smith believes this factor, combined with his improved program and growing track familiarity, positions him well for success.

Coming off his best points finish (eighth in 2024), Smith aims to build on his momentum and capture his first Super DIRTcar Series victory while maintaining his strong performance record in New Jersey.

"I think where our program is now with the cars and how we have things set up in the shop and me getting used to some of these tracks, we're only going to keep getting better," Smith said.

The Power in the Pines event at New Egypt Speedway on Saturday, March 29, marks Smith's next opportunity to convert his consistent performance into a breakthrough victory.
