Drake Edwards (Peoria, Ariz.) will compete full-time in the 2025 USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship with CB Industries, following an impressive rookie season in 2024.

The 21-year-old earned USAC Avanti Windows & Doors Western States Midget Rookie of the Year in 2024, securing two victories at Santa Maria Speedway and The Dirt Track at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway. He narrowly missed the series title by just 11 points while racing for Petty Performance Racing.

Edwards showed remarkable adaptability in his limited USAC National Midget starts in 2024, particularly at Eldora Speedway during the 4-Crown Nationals where he finished ninth. His decision to participate in Indiana Midget Week proved instrumental, leading to his first win at Santa Maria immediately afterward.

Coming from a racing family, Edwards started in quarter midgets at age five and later found success in micro sprints, winning championships in both Class A and Outlaw divisions at Central Arizona Raceway. His connection with current car owner Jerry Petty began uniquely when he almost ran Petty over during his first midget practice session at Adobe Mountain Speedway.

In his new role, Edwards will continue maintaining and wrenching on Petty Performance Racing's midgets and sprint cars when not driving for CB Industries. The partnership between CB Industries and Petty/Avanti is expected to expand beyond midget racing in the future.

The 2025 USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship season opens with two consecutive dates at Indiana's Kokomo Speedway on April 25-26 for the Kokomo Grand Prix.
