Despite falling short in the constructors' championship, Vasseur highlighted Ferrari's substantial progress compared to the previous year, noting improvements in pit stops, strategy, reliability, and overall performance. The narrow margin of defeat - just 14 points - makes the loss particularly painful, as a single race victory could have changed the championship outcome.
In the decisive Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, McLaren's Lando Norris secured victory ahead of Ferrari's Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. Vasseur revealed the team maintained their standard strategy rather than taking risks, focusing on maximizing their own performance rather than reacting to McLaren's position.
"If you are 80 or 100 points behind, you don't feel the frustration," Vasseur explained, emphasizing how the close finish made every missed opportunity throughout the season more significant. Despite the disappointment, he expressed pride in the team's overall progress and their approach to the final race, where they stuck to their planned strategy despite the championship pressure.
The team's focus now shifts to building on these improvements for the next season, with Vasseur determined to convert their progress into championship success.
