Oliver Turvey has joined Williams Racing as a test and development driver, departing from his long-standing role at McLaren. The experienced British driver will focus on developing Williams' new simulator facility, expected to be operational later this year.

Turvey brings significant expertise to Williams, having spent over a decade with McLaren while also competing in Formula E from 2015 to 2022. His achievements include an LMP2 class victory at Le Mans, and his engineering background includes a degree from Cambridge University.

Williams sporting director Sven Smeets emphasized the importance of Turvey's role in the team's journey back to success. Turvey will work alongside Harrison Scott in the team's development program, focusing on both current and future car development.

"I am delighted to join Williams," said Turvey. "It's an honor to have the opportunity to join such an historic and successful team." He expressed enthusiasm about working with drivers Alex and Carlos, while highlighting his commitment to helping Williams return to the top of Formula 1.

The 37-year-old's combination of driving experience and engineering knowledge made him an ideal candidate for Williams as they continue to strengthen their technical capabilities and pursue their path back to Formula 1 success.
