Igor Fraga and Syun Koide demonstrated strong potential for 2025 Super Formula seats during recent winter testing at Suzuka Circuit. Both drivers impressed with their performance and adaptability to the high-powered Super Formula machinery.

Igor Fraga, the Brazilian-Japanese driver known for his Gran Turismo World Series esports championships, emerged as the fastest rookie across all sessions. Despite primarily competing in Super GT GT300 recently, Fraga's single-seater experience and previous Super Formula testing proved valuable.

"The car felt a lot more comfortable for me to drive, and I could feel a lot more confidence pushing the car towards the limit," Fraga said, noting significant improvement during the second day of testing. His role as Nakajima Racing's reserve driver in 2024 has helped him build strong team relationships.

Syun Koide, the 25-year-old Japanese talent, also made a compelling case for a 2025 seat. The 2023 Super Formula Lights Champion completed 178 laps over three days with B-Max Racing Team, showing marked improvement from his previous test.

"I was able to control the car and improved my performance a lot more than last year," Koide stated, crediting his Super Formula Lights experience. Already secured for a GT500 drive with Honda next season, Koide aims to expand his racing program to include Super Formula.

Both drivers represent different paths to Super Formula – Fraga through esports and international racing, Koide through the traditional Japanese motorsport ladder. Their performances at the Suzuka test suggest either could be strong additions to the 2025 Super Formula grid.
