Honda Drivers Dominate Suzuka Super Formula Test, Rookie Fraga Impresses

Honda factory drivers have dominated all four test sessions of the Super Formula Championship's winter test at Suzuka Circuit. Dandelion Racing's Tadasuke Makino set the fastest overall time at 1m35.597s, followed by teammate Kakunoshin Ohta at 1m35.656s.

Honda confirmed five drivers for their 2025 Super Formula lineup:

  • Makino and Ohta returning to Dandelion Racing
  • Tomoki Nojiri and Ayumu Iwasa staying with Team Mugen
  • Ren Sato continuing with Nakajima Racing

Among Toyota-powered drivers, Cerumo-INGING's Sena Sakaguchi was fastest with 1m35.967s. Igor Fraga led all rookie sessions in the No. 64 Nakajima Racing Honda, posting 1m36.252s and emerging as the top candidate to replace retiring champion Naoki Yamamoto.

Notable rookie performances:

  • Seita Nonaka (KCMG Toyota): 1m36.677s
  • Syun Koide (B-Max Racing Honda): 1m36.803s
  • Oliver Rasmussen (Team Impul Toyota): 1m36.827s

W Series veteran Miki Koyama impressed in her first test with KCMG Toyota, completing 62 laps with a best time of 1m38.078s. She aims to become the fifth woman in series history.

The final day of testing is reserved for rookies, with Haas F1 Team's Oliver Bearman and Williams Racing Academy's Zak O'Sullivan scheduled to participate in the No. 7 KCMG Toyota and No. 4 Kondo Racing Toyota, respectively.
