Mat Williamson, the two-time Super DIRTcar Series champion, will make his debut at the 2025 Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma, driving for the prestigious Keith Kunz Motorsports (KKM) team.

This unexpected opportunity emerged after Williamson initially expressed reservations about competing against year-round teams. However, the chance to drive for KKM, an eight-time Chili Bowl champion team that has fielded cars for Kyle Larson, Christopher Bell, and Buddy Kofoid, proved too compelling to pass up.

"To race with Keith Kunz, which obviously that's a top-notch ride," Williamson explained. "I think if you're going to do it one way, this is how you got to do it."

While Williamson isn't known for small car racing, he draws inspiration from Modified drivers like Tim McCreadie, Billy VanInwegen, and Larry Wight, who have found success at the Chili Bowl. He'll benefit from KKM's extensive experience and technical expertise.

Despite being a newcomer to the event, Williamson maintains his competitive spirit: "To make the A-Main on Saturday would be a huge accomplishment," he said, while acknowledging the challenge of competing against the world's best midget drivers.

Williamson will join fellow Northeast Modified talent Alex Yankowski among hundreds of drivers competing for the coveted Golden Driller trophy.
