This royal involvement follows a tradition of monarchs supporting sustainable motorsport initiatives. In 2021, William, Prince of Wales, tested the Extreme E Odyssey 21 at Knockhill Circuit, while Prince Khalid Bin Sultan Al Abdullah Al Faisal of Saudi Arabia has been a regular attendee at Extreme E events in his country.
