Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) has made a triumphant return to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, partnering once again with Acura after a one-year hiatus. The team's comeback features an expanded program with two GTP class ARX-06 race cars.

Team owner Mike Shank received the news from HRC US president David Salters, who announced they were "getting the band back together." This reunion comes after MSR's challenging 2023 season, which ended prematurely due to complications following the Rolex 24.

The team's 2024 full-season driver lineup combines experience with fresh talent:

  • Returning drivers: Colin Braun and Tom Blomqvist
  • New additions: Renger van der Zande (from Cadillac) and Nick Yelloly (from BMW Team RLL)
  • Rolex 24 special additions: Felix Rosenqvist, Kakunoshin Ohta, Alex Palou, and Scott Dixon

MSR has maintained impressive team continuity, retaining 22 of their 23 staff members from 2023. The team operates under a unique model where MSR leads engineering on one car while HRC leads the other, creating a robust collaborative effort.

The ARX-06 race car remains largely unchanged mechanically, though significant software updates have been implemented. This stability should benefit the team, particularly in the early season races.

During the Roar Before the 24 testing weekend, both cars demonstrated strong performance with substantial track time. The team's expectations remain high, with Shank confidently stating their goal to challenge for podium positions in their return season.
