NRG EVgo has doubled its DC fast-charging network to 350 stations across 19 U.S. markets in just eight months, establishing itself as the largest public charging network operator with four times more stations than competitors.

The network supports both CHAdeMO (used by Nissan LEAF, Kia Soul EV, and Mitsubishi i-MiEV) and CCS charging standards (used by most U.S. and German automakers), making it widely accessible to different electric vehicle models.

Key market presence includes:

  • 100 stations in Los Angeles
  • 50 stations across Dallas/Fort Worth/Houston
  • 28 stations in Chicago
  • 28 stations in Atlanta (added in past 6 months)
  • 10 new stations coming to Denver

Starting from their home base in Texas, NRG EVgo has built enough charging infrastructure to cover the entire greater Houston area (8,778 square miles) - an area larger than New Jersey.

The company plans to expand into 7 additional markets by year's end, with numerous sites already in permitting or construction phases across multiple metro areas.

These DC fast-charging stations can charge most electric vehicles to 80% capacity in approximately 30 minutes. While they require higher construction costs and consume more electricity than Level 2 AC chargers, they significantly enhance the practicality of electric vehicles by reducing charging times and extending usable range.
