Veteran IndyCar racer Paul Tracy will compete in the 2025 Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli, driving an Innovation Race Cars (IRC) GT in the XGT class at Sebring and Road Atlanta rounds. The program, backed by IRC and operated by Chicago Performance and Tuning (CPT), aims to expand into a full-season championship effort.

Tracy's experience with the IRC GT includes winning the Invitational class at the Bathurst 12-hour race in February and competing in HSR races at Daytona. The Australian-built car was recently homologated for Trans Am's XGT class.

"I want to go for a championship," Tracy stated. "The car is super impressive in terms of its performance out of the box. With a proper effort from CPT, I know we can go for a championship run."

The IRC GT features an LS3 engine producing up to 550hp, with power delivered to the rear wheels through a 6-speed sequential gearbox. Built by PACE Innovations, the car offers GT3-level performance at a significantly lower cost. RaceCarsForYou and IRC have partnered to introduce the car to the U.S. market under IRC USA.

CPT president Al Uscinski was impressed by the car's build quality and affordability compared to GT3 alternatives. The program includes a two-car effort in the XGT class, with Tracy's involvement serving to showcase the IRC GT's capabilities.

David Stutterd of IRC highlighted Tracy's successful Bathurst 12 Hour podium finish and emphasized the car's cost-effectiveness, noting it runs at one-third the cost of GT3 cars. The program will be formally announced at the Performance Racing Industry trade show in Indianapolis.
