The reigning Formula E champion's car flipped into the outside wall at Turn 6 after contact with Jaguar TCS Racing's Nick Cassidy. The collision occurred after Cassidy suffered damage from a previous incident with Maxilian Guenther, affecting his ability to navigate the turn properly.

Antonio Felix da Costa, Wehrlein's teammate who finished second in the race, commented on the incident's significance regarding motorsport safety:
"It's a reminder that our sport is dangerous and we must race with respect," da Costa stated. "Our cars are getting faster, and some tracks are tight and bumpy. We need to know how to race side by side safely. The safety standards of these cars have proven to be excellent."
