Bruening has made significant preparations for the upcoming season, focusing on both physical and mental conditioning. His optimism stems from improved team strength and additional sponsorship support, positioning him as a strong contender for both race wins and the championship.
His track record shows promise, with his rookie 2021 season yielding 12 top-five finishes and third place in the standings, earning him Rookie of the Year honors. His career-best finish came at Lavonia Speedway, where he placed second. In 2024, he maintained momentum with six top-five finishes.
The addition of 2018 World of Outlaws champion Mike Marlar as his teammate at Skyline Motorsports has provided valuable mentorship and accelerated the team's development. Bruening credits this partnership for expanding their technical knowledge and improving their overall program.
The 2025 season opens at Volusia Speedway Park with the DIRTcar Sunshine Nationals (January 22-25), followed by the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals (February 13-15). The venue holds special significance for Bruening, who grew up attending Florida racing events with his father.
At Volusia, where Bruening secured two top-five finishes last season, he feels particularly confident about his chances on the track's larger layout. Recent improvements to the track surface have him optimistic about the upcoming races at the "World's Fastest Half Mile."
