Young Racers Graduate from Karts to Cars through PMH's Open-Wheel Development Program
As young racers dream of careers in Formula 1, IndyCar, NASCAR, or IMSA, karting serves as the crucial first step in competitive motorsport. Scott Goodyear, Race Director for multiple racing series, emphasizes karting's role as the international training ground for aspiring racers.
Parella Motorsports Holdings (PMH) has developed a comprehensive four-step progression system for young drivers:
- Partnership with Radford Racing School for initial race car experience and licensing
- Ligier JS F4 Series - introductory step
- Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.)
- Formula Regional Americas (FR Americas)

This ladder system emphasizes driver development, education, and safety while maintaining cost-effectiveness through spec racing cars. It offers the lowest cost per mile compared to other professional racing series in North America and global Formula championships.
Success stories include:
- Teddy Musella, 2024 JS F4 champion, who praises the series for teaching essential car control skills
- Patrick Woods-Toth, who won consecutive championships in F4 U.S. and FR Americas after starting at Radford Racing School
- Vaughn Beesley, who recently completed the karts-to-cars transition through the Radford Racing School F4 U.S. Scholarship Award School
PMH maintains strategic partnerships with:
- ROK Cup USA
- New Castle Motorsports Park
- Motomaster Ron Fellows Karting Championship
- Will Power (two-time IndyCar champion)
These partnerships help identify and develop promising young talent. Graduates of the program have advanced to prestigious series including FIA Formula 3, IndyCar, NASCAR, Super Formula, IMSA, and Indy NXT.
The 2025 racing season for FR Americas, F4 U.S., and JS F4 begins at NOLA Motorsports Park from March 27-30.
