Spire Motorsports strengthens competition team with key hires for 2025 NASCAR season
Spire Motorsports expands its competition team for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season with two significant hires to strengthen its technical leadership.
IndyCar racing on Phoenix track
Matt McCall joins as director of vehicle performance after serving as crew chief for Brad Keselowski's No. 6 Ford at RFK Racing. McCall brings extensive NASCAR experience and a long-standing relationship with Spire co-owner Jeff Dickerson spanning 25 years.
Dax Gerringer steps in as technical director, bringing nine seasons of experience from Stewart-Haas Racing, where he worked as a race engineer on the No. 4 team. Gerringer's impressive career includes contributions to 34 Cup Series victories over 20 years in the sport.
These additions complement Spire's 2025 driver lineup:
- Justin Haley (No. 7) paired with crew chief Rodney Childers
- Michael McDowell (No. 71) working with Travis Peterson
- Carson Hocevar (No. 77) continuing with Luke Lambert
The expansion reflects Spire Motorsports' commitment to building a competitive three-car operation for the 2025 season, with both new hires expressing enthusiasm about joining the organization during its growth phase. Dickerson emphasizes these appointments as strategic moves to strengthen the team's technical capabilities and maintain its upward trajectory in NASCAR's top division.
