Marek Hanaczewski, who has served as deputy race director since Season 8 (2021-22), will take over the role. Hanaczewski has already demonstrated his capabilities by successfully directing the season-opening Sao Paulo E-Prix in December.
Elkins' departure marks the end of a significant chapter in Formula E, where he served for ten years, including seven as race director. His extensive motorsport experience includes roles as race director for Extreme E and DTM, as well as deputy race director positions in Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 3.
The transition will begin at the upcoming Jeddah E-Prix, where Elkins and Hanaczewski will swap roles. The full handover will take place at the Monaco E-Prix in May, with Benoit Dupont, Formula E's current head of circuit operations, stepping in as the new deputy race director.
Following his departure from the FIA, Elkins will focus on his new roles as CEO of Al Kamel Systems North America and strategic director of Al Kamel Systems, while maintaining his commitment to U.S.-based motorsport projects.
Hanaczewski, who brings 13 years of motorsport experience to the position, expressed gratitude for Elkins' mentorship and pledged to ensure the continued success of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
