This historic collaboration between IMSA and Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) marks the first time vintage race cars will compete during a WeatherTech Championship race weekend since IMSA's acquisition of HSR in 2022.

The three-day event schedule includes:

  • Thursday: Opening practice
  • Friday: Morning qualifying and evening qualifying race
  • Saturday: 30-minute feature race before the Rolex 24

Spectators can view the competing cars in a public paddock tent in the Daytona International Speedway Rolex 24 Midway, with additional historic vehicles displayed in the FanZone.

"The IMSA Classic will add to the grandeur of the Rolex 24, and we are grateful to both Daytona International Speedway and HSR for the partnership and cooperation in making this vision a reality," said IMSA President John Doonan.

Participation is limited, with invitations being distributed to HSR members and notable vintage racing teams. A selection committee will review all applications to determine the final competitor list.

This initiative joins other recent HSR developments, including the HSR Prototype Challenge for retired LMP3 cars and the HSR NASCAR Classic Presented by Petty's Garage racing series. Future IMSA Classic events will showcase different periods of IMSA's 50-year history.
