Following a challenging 2023-24 season with only five points finishes, Mahindra's extensive off-season development, including technical staff changes and a new powertrain, is showing positive results.
De Vries finished eighth, marking the team's second consecutive points finish. His teammate Edoardo Mortara qualified strongly in eighth position but suffered a race-ending puncture after being hit from behind.
Team Principal Frederic Bertrand expressed satisfaction with the team's progress, noting that double points were possible if not for Mortara's misfortune. He emphasized the team's focus on consistent point-scoring throughout the season.
"Compared to 12 months ago, to start the season with two decent points finishes is a good step forward," said de Vries, highlighting the team's improvement. The team now has a month before the next races in Jeddah to analyze data and continue their development trajectory.
Mortara remained optimistic despite his setback, acknowledging the car's potential demonstrated by his qualifying performance and de Vries's race result. The team will use the break before Jeddah to analyze their performance and identify further areas for improvement.
